I was curious how the stout barrel influence would come through, and it’s really well integrated—dark chocolate and roasted malt notes without overpowering the Scotch. The December 2012 distillation date gives it a nice mature backbone.

The stout cask finish is subtle but unmistakable—I get a soft roasted malt and cocoa note that the re-charred casks let shine through. It’s smooth on the first sip and leaves a gentle warmth that lingers nicely.
