Opened this for a quiet evening, and the plum and mocha notes are exactly as described—really smooth and concentrated for a 2006. The 3-liter bottle is a showstopper on the table too.

Popped this 2006 for a dinner party and the nose alone was worth it — plum, mocha, and that loam earthiness came through beautifully. For a 3-liter bottle it drank surprisingly fresh, with hardly any sign of aging on the palate.

I’ve been cellaring this for a few years and finally cracked it last weekend—the nose of plum, mocha, and coffee is exactly as described, and it paired beautifully with a slow-braised beef roast. The 3-liter bottle was a showstopper on the table and made the evening feel even more special.
