MONTES UNOAKED CHARDONNAY 2022, Chile

The lime and peach on the nose is what got me, and that little salty edge keeps it from tasting like plain fruit juice. Light enough to drink chilled on a warm evening without feeling heavy.

Wasn't expecting much from a cheap Chilean white, but the stone fruit on this is genuinely lovely. It's unoaked so the peach comes through clean instead of buried in vanilla, and the citrus keeps it zippy. Gone through two bottles this month already.

I wasn't expecting peach in a Chardonnay at this price, but it's right there alongside the citrus. The unoaked style keeps it light and drinkable, no heavy butteriness at all.
