CASTLE ROCK MERLOT 2022, California

Opened this with some hesitation since I usually go for bolder cabs, but the vanilla and nutmeg notes give it a really pleasant warmth without losing the fruit. It's medium-bodied enough to pair with a simple pasta night, yet feels polished enough for company. Definitely ordering another bottle.

That blueberry and black plum core is really something else, and the hint of nutmeg adds a cozy warmth that makes it perfect for a chilly evening. Poured a glass with dinner and it was gone before the pasta was. Medium-bodied and smooth, exactly what I was hoping for at this price.

The vanilla and black pepper notes make this a surprisingly complex Merlot for the price — it’s become my go‑to for weeknight dinners when I want something a bit richer than usual.
