Mezcal Vago prefers to be philosophically and literally off the beaten mezcal path. They actively seek out small batch maestros mezcaleros, who for generations have been perfecting their craft deep in the Southern Mountains of Oaxaca. They believe in losing themselves in the hills, and searching out the extaordinary.

This artisinal mezcal is distilled by Hijos de Aquilino Garcia in Candelaria, Yegole with Espadin - the most widely cultivated agave variety for mezcal in Mexico - and finished with toasted corn (elote). The essence of rural Mexico are corn and agave.

The adding of another ingredient before final distillation is typical of traditional celebration mezcal. Elote celebrates the importance of both to Mexican heritage, culture and daily life. The still is copper and the batch xize is 1,367 liters. 50.1% ABV

Hannah J. ★★★★★

The smoke lingers long after each sip, but it's the agave sweetness underneath that keeps me coming back—this batch feels genuinely handcrafted, not mass-produced. I poured it for friends who usually stick to tequila and they were surprised by how smooth it drinks neat.

Joshua V. ★★★★★

The earthy, vegetal notes on the nose are unlike any mezcal I've tried before — it's truly something special from a small batch. The finish is surprisingly smooth with just a hint of smoke that lingers perfectly. I've been savoring it neat and it's already becoming my go-to for a quiet evening.

Owen ★★★★★

The smoke hits first, then that earthy agave sweetness lingers beautifully — it's surprisingly smooth for the proof. I’ve been sipping it neat and it makes even a plain evening feel special.
