Pulled the cork on this 1991 and the nose alone—currant, tobacco, that cedary note—took me back decades. Still has a surprising youthful energy on the palate with a long, mineral-driven finish.

Opened this 1991 Napa with some skepticism given its age, but the initial aromatics were surprisingly vibrant. That mix of currant and cedar on the finish held together beautifully through the last sip.

The brick and tobacco notes really came through beautifully after decanting for about an hour. This 1991 bottling still has surprising structure and depth for its age. A special bottle for a quiet evening.
