While this isn't the most muscular Pauillac of the vintage, the trade off is robust concentration, intensity, weight and texture. The 2018 Grand-Puy Ducasse blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Merlot is brimming with black tea, cocoa, dried herbs, espresso, black licorice, black plum, ripe cherries and blackberries. Juicy and savory, the Merlot in the blend shines here.

This wine surprised me with how much weight and texture it had despite not being the biggest Pauillac of the year. The Cabernet-Merlot blend gives it a really nice balance of intensity and smoothness. I’m already looking forward to the next bottle.
