Category: RYE

Stauning Rye is a Nordic rye whisky made with floor malted rye and barley. The combination of malted grain and double-distillation in small, open fired pot stills make the cereal notes shine in this fruity, smooth and full-bodied whisky. It is matured 3-4 years in new American oak barrels and bottled unfiltered. 96 Proof

This dark and robust liquid interpretation of freshly-baked Danish rye bread offers plenty of roasted baking spice, pepper, caramel and vanilla with a long complex finish.

David R. ★★★★★

I was skeptical of a Danish rye at first, but the open fired pot stills give it a beautifully clean, spicy finish that works perfectly neat. Even the nose has a lovely, grainy sweetness that sets it apart from any American rye I've tried.

Robert R. ★★★★★

The double-distillation in those small open fired pot stills really lets the rye grain shine through—it's bold but not harsh. Poured a glass over a big ice cube after dinner and the cereal sweetness kept pulling me back for more. This is my new go-to for slow sipping.

Owen Q. ★★★★☆

The double-distillation in small pot stills really lets the cereal character come through without being harsh. I’ve tried a few rye whiskies and this one has a cleaner finish, though I wish the bottle had a bit more information about the aging process.
