ALTOCEDRO MALBEC 2023, Mendoza

Opened this with some aged gouda and the earthy notes really came through. The herbal edge on the finish kept it from being too heavy, which was a nice surprise.

Grilled a ribeye last night and this was the perfect pairing—the blackberry and plum came through bold, but that dried cheese note on the finish was a pleasant surprise. Earthy without being heavy, and it held up nicely against the char.

Opened this with some aged gruyère and the dried cheese note in the aroma was surprisingly spot-on. The blackberry and plum flavors are bold but not jammy, really well balanced. Perfect with a steak, just as described.
