GAJA CA'MARCANDA 2017, Tuscany

Opened this after dinner last night and the blackberry and violet aromas really popped after about 20 minutes of air. The medium body is just right — not too heavy, but enough structure to stand up to the meal. Definitely one I'll buy again.

The basil and violet notes on the nose were so distinctive—this really opened up beautifully after about an hour in the decanter. Perfectly balanced, not too heavy, and the finish lingered just right.

I usually lean toward New World reds, but this 2017 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc changed my mind—the blackberry and basil notes are perfectly balanced. Medium-bodied with a silky finish, it’s elegant without being heavy. Already ordered a second bottle.
