Decided to pop this open for a special dinner, and it’s still incredibly youthful. The dark spice and smoked meat notes are beautifully integrated, with a long, mineral-driven finish. I can easily see why Wine Spectator gave it 99 points.

I opened this for a special dinner and the concentration of dark spices and smoked meat was incredible. Even at over 20 years old, it still has years of life ahead according to the drinking window. Definitely worth the wait.

The nose alone is worth it—dark spices and that smoked meat character just jump out of the glass, exactly as described. Even at this age, the structure feels like it’s got another decade easily, which the 2030+ window suggests. I opened one for a special dinner and it didn’t disappoint for a second.
