Picked up a bottle from the distillery in Evanston, and the green pepper note is subtle but really balances the vanilla sweetness. Smooth enough for a new rye drinker like me, but still has that classic rye character.

Finally a rye that doesn't punch you in the face with heat—the vanilla balances the pepper perfectly for a smooth sip. I’ve been mixing it in old fashioneds and it holds up without getting lost. Great choice if you’re easing into ryes.
